Let’s Get Crazy! Franka Batelić to Represent Croatia!

The ball is really rolling in the Eurovision world, with news hitting us left, right and centre! The next announcement this week came from Croatia, where local broadcaster HRT announced that Franka Batelić would be representing the nation in Lisbon in May.

The broadcaster held an internal selection to choose their next representative, and they’ve landed on Franka Batelić with a song composed by Branimir Mihaljević, who also composed Croatia’s 2010 entry, Lako je sve which was performed by Femminem. The lyrics of the 2018 song were written by Franka herself, and the song, titled Crazy will be debuted soon on the radio programme Drugi dio Dana.

Franka Batelić was born in 1992 in Rijeka, Croatia, and rose to fame when she won the 2007 season of Showtime, a show similar to Pop Idol. She has competed in the Eurovision national selection back in 2009 and 2010, however never quite made it to the top spot. In 2009, she won the Croatian version of Dancing With the Stars, and although she took a brief break in the music world, she returned at the end of 2017 with the song S tobom which was a commercial success in Croatia.

Franka commented on her upcoming gig, speaking of how it has been a dream for a long time, ‘When I was two years old, I was standing in front of our tv set, holding a remote control instead of a microphone, singing the lyrics of Tony Cetinski’s, Nek’ ti bude ljubav sva from the Eurovision 1994. That girl never stopped dreaming. And now the dream is coming true! I will present Croatian Radio and Television and the Republic of Croatia to Eurovision. I would like to thank the Croatian Radio Television for their invitation and expressed confidence. My team and I are aware of the responsibilities that this presentation brings, we are ready for the challenge and we will do our very best to represent Croatia in the best possible way in Portugal in May’

Stay tuned for the song release, which will be added to this post when available. For now, listen to her latest release:
